Connect Wrench.Pro to your AI
Wrench.Pro runs a free, read-only MCP server so AI assistants can answer vehicle questions from our data instead of guessing: NHTSA recalls, human-reviewed Known Issues, and maintenance schedules with honest cost estimates, for US-market vehicles from 1990 on. No account, no API key, no setup beyond one URL.
Server URL: https://mcp.wrench.pro/mcp Transport: Streamable HTTP Auth: none Registry: pro.wrench/vehicle-check (registry.modelcontextprotocol.io)
Claude
In claude.ai or the Claude desktop app: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the server URL above, done. In Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http wrench-pro https://mcp.wrench.pro/mcp
ChatGPT
The Wrench.Pro Vehicle Check app is in directory review. Developer-mode users can add the server URL above under Settings → Integrations → Plugins today.
Gemini
In the Gemini app, open Connected Apps → add a custom MCP server and paste the server URL above. Gemini Enterprise admins can connect the same URL as a Streamable HTTP server. There's no Gemini directory listing to install from yet — Google hasn't opened one — but the server itself works there the same as anywhere MCP does.
GitHub Copilot & VS Code
In VS Code, run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP, and paste the server URL above — Copilot's agent mode picks the tools up. For a whole repo, commit the server to .vscode/mcp.json. We're published in the official MCP Registry that GitHub's registry syncs from, as pro.wrench/vehicle-check.
What your assistant can do with it
- resolve_vehicle — turns "my '17 F150" into an exact year/make/model.
- get_recalls — NHTSA recall campaigns on file for that vehicle.
- get_known_issues — our human-reviewed complaint clusters, with counts.
- get_maintenance — service schedule with Dealer / Shop / DIY estimates.
- get_vehicle_summary — all of the above in one call, plus a vehicle card in apps that render MCP UI.
All five tools are read-only. Try: "Does my 2017 Ford Escape have any recalls?" · "What goes wrong with a 2019 Civic?" · "What should a 45k-mile service cost?"
The fine print
Data comes from NHTSA public records plus Wrench.Pro's own reviewed analysis, served from cached snapshots — see the data portal for freshness and methodology, and the license (CC BY 4.0 derived data; NHTSA records are public domain). Price figures are estimates. Recalls should be confirmed against your VIN at nhtsa.gov. The server stores no personal data (privacy); requests are rate-limited per client. Questions or problems: support.
