  • 11624147 The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, while attempting to depress the brake pedal, the brake pedal was very difficult to depress, requiring more than normal force to depress the brake pedal. The contact stated that the message "ABS Not Functioning" was displayed.
  • 11603555 I then proceeded to gently tap my brakes to see what all of this meant, and to my horror, my brake pedal went completely to the ground with no brakes initiated. Thankfully, I was able to move over onto the shoulder and coast to a stop and place my car in Park. The emergency brake would not initiate.

  • 11739165 Driving at 70 mph down a clear stretch of highway, no cars in front, panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded. Not under an overpass, no flying debris. Temperature was 54 degrees F. on a sunny day. The vehicles behind me pulled back as my sunroof showered them.
  • 11667487 The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH with no vehicles around, the sunroof suddenly exploded while the sunroof was closed. The glass fell on the driver. There were no reported injuries. There were chards of glass scattered throughout the vehicle. There were three-quarters of the glass missing.

  • 11728381 Since buying the car new we have had a constant problem of the "emergency call system malfunction" on the dashboard. We've been to the dealer several times for this and each time they say they've fixed it. Last time they told us they had replaced the TCU module, but in the last month the warning has re-appeared.

  • 11702677 Three weeks ago the instrument cluster indicated a failure of the front collision avoidance system and said to have the vehicle examined by the dealer. I dropped it off two weeks ago and have been informed that they're having trouble updating the instrument panel and other component software.

  • 11738966 While using the Park Assist feature on my 2024 BMW X5, the vehicle was under active system control during a parking maneuver. The system directed the vehicle in reverse and struck an object. I did not apply the accelerator. The vehicle was operating under Park Assist guidance at the time of impact.
  • 11545185 The contact stated that while using the feature, the vehicle failed to stop as needed and the vehicle crashed into the back wall of her garage without warning. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact was not injured and a police report was not filed.

  • 11670210 Rear cross traffic alert system never works whenever a car is approaching. Only works when it is too late. Definitely no pedestrian alert. Much cheaper vehicles with this feature actually sound an alert before any emergency activation. Dealer states system is working according to spec.
  • 11623259 The rear cross traffic warning does not work. I have backed up and a vehicle is coming right behind me and I thank goodness stop by pressing on the brake when I spotted the vehicle in the car camera.
  • 11635847 The rear cross traffic sensor does not warn when there is oncoming traffic. It puts me, my passengers and other cars at a safety risk. BMW Palm Springs investigated and tested and states that the system is not providing any error messages.

A loss of ABS or DSC can cause a loss of vehicle handling and control. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.Dealers will replace the integrated brake system, free of charge. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning August 21, 2026.
